Use Your Phone to Record and Post a Video Response into a D2L BrightSpace Discussion Post

Using a Mobile (iOS) Device

  1. Open your D2L Brightspace course in the D2L Pulse App or the web browser
  2. Navigate to the discussion you'd like to participate in
    1. a d2l discussion page
  3. Click 'Start a new thread'
  4. Enter subject (title)
    1. Entering the discussion subject
  5. Click on the '+' icon (above the text box)

  6. From the dropdown menu, click on 'Insert Stuff'
  7. Click on 'Kaltura Media'

  8. Wait for the screen to load
  9. Click on the '+' box

  10. Click on 'Media Upload'
    1. media upload is the top option in the menu
  11. Click on 'Choose a file to upload'

  12. If you have already recorded a video, it will be in your photo library; if not, click on 'Take a photo or video'
    1. Photo Library is the first item in the menu followed by Take Photo or Video
  13. If taking new video, hit 'Record' button on your device and create your video
  14. When finished recording, click 'Use video' (or you can redo to your liking as needed)
  15. (Optional) scroll down to change the name of your video

  16. Click 'Save and embed'
  17. Click 'Insert'

  18. Scroll down, click 'Post

Edit the Captions

Kaltura MediaSpace will automatically generate captions for your video but you must edit them to make sure they are accurate.
Navigate to Kaltura MediaSpace, log in with your Star ID and password and follow these instructions.
